Who we are and what this covers
Elev8 Corp. ("Elev8", "we") is based in the Republic of Korea and runs the Elev8 network: the website at elev8x.io, our event pages such as elev8.tw, and the Elev8 member app for iOS and Android ("the App"). This policy explains what we collect through these services, why, and the choices you have.
Elev8 is for working professionals and leaders. Our services are not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
What we collect
We collect three kinds of information.
- Details you give us — when you request an invitation, request a seat at an event, or enter an invite code: your name, company and title, email address, city, LinkedIn profile, and the introduction you write. In the App: your profile (name, company, title, and a photo if you add one), the superpower and challenge sentences you write, your event RSVPs, your availability for introductions, and messages you exchange with other members.
- Details collected automatically — when you submit a form or use the App: your IP address, browser or device type, the page you came from, the campaign tags (UTM) in the link you arrived by, your time zone and language settings, the time of your request, and a reference number we assign. In the App, a push notification token for your device if you allow notifications.
- Visit statistics — while one of our pages is open, your browser keeps a live connection to our own server and reports the page path you are on (with numbers and codes removed) and whether the page is currently visible. It is identified only by a random visitor ID that changes every day, stored in your browser as e8-vid; our server keeps only a one-way hash of that ID, for up to 90 days. If you are signed in to the App, we also record which days you were active.
- Details from others — a member who vouches for you may tell us who you are and why they recommend you.
We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics on our website, event pages or the App. The visit statistics above are our own: they are counted on our server, are not shared with advertisers or analytics companies, and are used only to see how many people are visiting and which pages they use. The App does not use your location, contacts or calendar. If you add a profile photo, the App uses only the photo you choose. Messages you send in the App are delivered to the member you write to; we do not read them routinely, and access them only to investigate a report, to keep the network safe, or when the law requires.
How we use it
- To review your request — every request is read by a person, and a member must vouch for you before an invitation is sent.
- To introduce you — we match your challenge with the peer who has already solved it, and show your profile and your superpower and challenge sentences to the members we introduce you to.
- To run events — to look after you around a gathering, confirm your seat, and send practical details.
- To stay in touch — about future Elev8 gatherings and opportunities. Every message we send has an easy way to opt out.
- To keep the network safe — to prevent abuse of our forms, enforce our Terms, and protect the confidentiality members rely on.
- To understand who joins us — in aggregate, so we can keep each room small and well matched.
Where the law requires a legal basis: reviewing your request, making introductions and running events are the steps needed to provide the service you asked for; sharing your details with event partners rests on your consent, which you can withdraw; staying in touch about future gatherings rests on your consent or, where the law allows, our legitimate interest in keeping members informed, always with an easy opt-out; keeping technical details such as IP address and browser type rests on our legitimate interest in protecting our forms from abuse and understanding how requests reach us; and our visit statistics rest on our legitimate interest in knowing how many people use our pages so we can run and improve them. You can object to any processing based on legitimate interest by writing to us.
Where your information is kept, and for how long
Elev8 is based in Korea and our members meet in Seoul, Singapore, Seattle, San Francisco and Taipei. Your information is stored and processed by Elev8 and the providers above in Korea, Singapore, Japan, the United States and Taiwan. Where information leaves the country it was collected in, we rely on the safeguards available under the applicable law, including contractual protections with our providers.
We keep your information for as long as we stay in touch or until you ask us to delete it. Requests that do not lead to membership are kept so we can recognise and answer you if you write again, and are deleted or anonymised when they are no longer needed. Records we must keep by law are kept for the required period.
How we protect it
Access to member information is limited to the small Elev8 team that reviews requests and runs introductions. Our systems use encrypted connections, access controls and audit logs, and our providers are well-established services with their own security programmes. No method of storage is perfectly secure, so if you believe your information has been compromised, please contact us at once.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or receive a copy of your information, and to object to certain uses. You can always:
- See, update or delete your details — write to us at andrew@elev8x.io and we will act on your request within a reasonable time. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
- Delete your account — write to us at andrew@elev8x.io from the email address on your account and we will delete your account and the information connected to it, except what we must keep by law.
- Stop hearing from us — use the opt-out in any message, or write to us.
- Manage notifications — turn App notifications off in your device settings at any time.
- Decline event photography — let our team know on the night if you would prefer not to appear in the event recap.
If you are in a jurisdiction with a data protection authority, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with it.
Cookies and storage on your device
Our website does not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies. Our network provider, Cloudflare, may set a short-lived security cookie to protect the site from automated abuse. Beyond that, the site stores a few small values in your browser so it works smoothly:
- e8-intro — remembers that you have already seen the opening animation in this tab (cleared when the tab closes).
- e8-utm — keeps the campaign tags from the link you arrived by, so we know how you found us (cleared when the tab closes).
- e8-request-v1 — after you request an invitation, remembers your request on this device so you can review or edit it (kept for up to 90 days). Choose "Start a new request" to remove it.
- e8-request-pending-v1 — keeps a request that did not finish sending so it can be sent once, not twice (kept for up to 24 hours).
- e8-vid — a random visitor ID for our own visit statistics. It is replaced with a new one every day, so it cannot be used to follow you over time.
You can clear these at any time through your browser settings. The App stores your sign-in session and preferences on your device so you stay signed in.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and show the new effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you by email or in the App before it takes effect.
